What is electrolysis?
Discovered in the 1870s by Dr. Charles E. Michel, electrolysis is a method for removing individual hairs from the face or body. It is the only method that scientific research shows is both safe and permanent.
Permanent hair removal is achieved by an electrical current that targets the growth center of each individual follicle, destroying its potential for regrowth. After the hair has been treated, a very fine probe is inserted painlessly at the natural opening of the follicle and the hair is removed.
The hair grows back finer and less noticeable after each session until the entire regeneration cycle is knocked out and hair stops growing back in at all.
The technique destroys hair permanently and works on all types of skin.
The process causes very little discomfort and is effective on all kinds of hair. The intensity of the treatment can easily be modified depending on the needs of the client.
What causes excess hair growth?
Excess hair growth can be caused by heredity, hormone levels, medications and even temporary methods such as shaving. Hair growth on areas such as the upper lip, chin or bikini line can cause a person to feel self-conscious and uncomfortable.
Temporary methods of hair removal such as shaving, waxing, tweezing and bleaching can irritate the skin and result in increased hair growth and ingrown hairs. Permanent hair removal is the best way to produce smooth, flawless skin and restore confidence.
For Barbara Harmison, the best part about being a licensed Electrologist is the chance to help men and women build self-confidence.
How long will electrolysis take and how many sessions will I need?
Since so many factors can influence hair growth, the length of time for a session and the number of sessions needed will wary based on the client. A typical electrolysis session is between 15 & 60 minutes. Clients who return weekly or every other week for several weeks tend to see the quickest and best results.
